What I am thinking about doing is send LTC from my camera (AF100) to one of the line level audio tracks on the DR-680. This program, "wavetobwf" supposedly will make a six-track poly audio file with timecode. That would be locked, wouldn't it???

Some Avid NLEs can insert multiple files on the timeline, from a linear time coded audio track, don't know about FCP or other NLEs. So theoretically it's possible.
"wavetobwf" ? Are talking about BWF-Widget or WaveAgent?

Rick R,
Thanks for the information. The program is "waveToBWF".
Here is the link:

I haven't purchased it yet. But I plan to give it a try when my DR-680 arrives. I was just checking out Wave Agent by Sound Devices. Will it do the same thing?
There is a very detailed review here by Steve Oakley:

If you go to the bottom of the page for details of his sync test. He notes that the drift of the dr680 was less than the audio drift in his cameras!! That's pretty amazing for the price!!Last edited by Video Dave; 05-07-2012 at 02:08 PM. Reason: More Information

Hi. I'm a bit late to this party, but just ordered a DR-680 and know that I will need to get an external battery for it. Can you advise which Tekkeon battery you use, and if a special cable is required for use with the DR-680? Thanks!
