    DVX100B Black Lines appears

    Exclamation
    Hey guys,

I am experiencing a huge problem and I am very scared about it!

Basically, 3 months ago, I dropped the camera on the ground. Nothing was broken inside (I think) and the cam was working well just some little scratches.
But recently I noticed that sometimes some black lines appears on the screen. they are horizontal and 5 if I don't say s*%t...
They appears for 10 sec, and then disappear. There is also a pretty large black line on the right side which is vertical.
Also, the look of those lines is different if I am watching them on my computer, big strong black lines, or on the LCD thin black lines with some large semi-transparent grey layer, where the thin black lines+grey layer = around the same space as the big strong black lines on the computer.

Feel free to check out some screenshots here:

    Those lines appears on:
    • LCD
    • PC
    • Place where you put your eye
    Those lines might appears when:
    • Recording
    • Not Recording
    • Not even a Tape is inside the camera
Could you help me identify what is this problem and where I could get it fixed ? or even does it worth getting it fixed.
I am living in New Orleans, LA.

Thanks a lot guys, your help is gold for me!!
I am freaking out right now,
    Pierre.

Looks to be a hardware issue from you dropping the camera. My guest is a connection from the mainboard to the LCD is a bit loose inside the camera.

    Thanks for your reply Joot.

I also sent a mail to camcorderrepair.com to ask for a quote to repair it.

They said that it should be the video circuit board which is not working well anymore.
They are talking about a 200$ bill which from my point of view not that expensive.
Do you have any info on this website ?
Is this the regular price for this kind of issue ?

    Thanks !
    Pierre.

You might want that quote in writing. Sometimes they will charge you even more after they have the camera in their hands. However, they won't really know what's wrong until they actually open up the camera to see what's wrong. $200.00 is very cheap.

How's the audio? Black lines like that generally indicate a failing/ dirty head or a tape track that's out of alignment.
