    C300 - They nailed it!

Had the camera for a couple of days now. Shot primarily in 1080p, 850ISO in Cinema Lock (C-log) mode. Daylight tests, grading in Apple Color.

Damn Canon! You nailed this thing!

For a camera that shoots to CF Cards in 8-bit, the codec is extremely robust. I've broken it, but only doing silly looks that I would probably never use in any serious piece.

The creamy sharpness and rendering of texture continues to delight my eyes. 850ISO has the perfect noise level.

The general ergonomics, simplicity, speed of boot-up, and 'thought-out' quality of the camera make it well worth the price.

    In love so far.

Yeah, the codec is amazing, I can push the highs and lows as much as I want it is almost like a vector graphic. No noise, no artifacts.

I'm going to do a couple of side by sides with the Andromeda actually - just to see if the color depth compares properly to the 10bit 4:4:4 from the Andro.

We just got our C300 PL and are very happy so far. Great resolution, super quiet, highlight handling is good. Had it on a Chroma Du Monde chart and had trouble getting yellow and cyan color points, but didn't use color correction, only matrix. The pre-programmed color profiles seem to have the yellow right. Will try loading Abel Cinetech's scene files and reading the manual about color correction menu. Not as controllable as our Varicam for REC 709 setup, but I'll get there.

I keep wanting to put some diffusion on our Arri Alura/C300 combo--Diffusion FX 1/4 or 1/2 seems to make for a more filmic image. Not much time to get to know the camera, it's going out on rental for three weeks!
