    Hey

Does any know what the widest lens is on the EX1 compared to a 35mm full frame camera like the 5d? it's quite wide but not quite 24mm, more like 28mm.

    any ideas?

The stock lens goes fairly wide, maybe in the 28mm range. I purchased the SONY wide-angle adaptor and you get a much more useable range. There is also a fisheye attachement from SONY in case you need to go nuts, or are shooting skateboard footage. The stock lens with the wide-angle adaptor is a very good choice. I just leave mine on the stock lens most of the time. It's very sharp and I rarely see any reason to increase the sharpness by taking off the wide-angle adaptor. If you are in a major market these attachments can be rented, usually around $50/day. There are also 1.6x and 2.0x tele adaptors if you need to go longer. Unfortunately, with the tele adaptors on you can only zoom about 1/2 way out before vignetting starts to occur. The stock lens has a lot of reach, and I rarely find that I need a tele adaptor. Good luck.

"f = 5.8 to 81.2 mm (equivalent to 31.4 to 439 mm on 35 mm lens)" Google in less then 10 seconds.

Hello guys. I came here from the Panasonic Lumix GH2 section ( I hope that I won't be eaten alive ). For some time I am trying to adapt the EX1 sun hood to GH2 the same way as this guy did it here http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/panasoni...allhd-dp6.html. I know the shade can be adapted via step up ring. The only problem is that I want to use it with wide angle lenses ( among others ) as 24-70 full frame equivalent lens and I am wondering if there will be a vignetting on 24mm or anything under 24mm. You seem to be the only ones that could help me. Do you know if the EX1 shade works with anything wider than 28mm? Thanks in advance!

No problem with a 14mm lens,(thats the widest I have). But the EX1 lens hood looks pretty silly sat in front of a tiny GH2, there are far more elegant and practical hood solutions.

Thank you for reply. Did you mean 14mm as full frame equivalent? I have almost finished my project with converting GH2 into mini-video-camera and I am sure that with my rig it will fit the GH2 nicely. Here is the photo:

And one more question- is the hood bayonet mount diameter a 77mm?
