The VLC Player folks are cooking up a version for Android systems. ( their VLC Player for PC will play native MTS files, so there's a chance their Android version will too )

That is great news about VLC! On my PC, it was always the least taxing of the players. At least i have something working in the meantime.

My iPad2 will play native GH2 MTS files with BUZZ player. AVPlayer will as well.
The iPad will only support 720p on it's own.
The only problem here, is how to get the file onto the iPad - you cannot do it via the Camera Connector Kit. I had to copy my files to the network, and then grab it off the network.

Bummer about the iPad as I read about this too. The proprietary nature of Apple products can be a PITA sometimes.

Update: Latest Dice Player version breaks the ability to play MTS files natively. Major bummer. I dropped an email to the developer to let him know. I really wish I could revert to the previous version as it worked perfectly.
ETA: I found a link to an older version (1.8.2) which I downloaded and replaced this newest version (1.8.8) and it started working again!ETA: latest version.posted 13 Feb (1.8.9) fixed the issue.

Hey guys. Thanks for the recommendation of Dice Player. I tried playing .MTS files as a test on my Galaxy Nexus and it was choppy (quite choppy) in both MX Player and the VLC beta. Dice Player took a second to get the video going well, but after a couple of seconds, it was completely smooth. So if my GNex can do it, then I think any Tegra 2 or 3 should do it just fine.
So I'd like a tablet with full size SD, full size USB (for pulling up files on a harddrive or getting teleprompter scripts from a client), and any size HDMI (for presentation, big screen playback, or Netflix).
Any suggestions that meet those requirements? The Toshiba Thrive would work. I'd prefer something newer, though. Thanks! My equipment
Cameras: Panasonic AF100, Panasonic GH2, Sony V1U
Lenses: Tamron 17 - 50mm F2.8, Lumix 14 - 42, Lumix 20mm, Lumix X 45 - 175, Nikon 50mm 1.4D, LCW Vari-ND mkII (on the GH2)
Audio: Sennheiser G3, Audio Technica AT875r, Zoom H4n
ETC: Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Toshiba Excite 10 teleprompter (WIP), iMac, Premiere Pro CS6

Update: I tried the Acer A200 and it was not fast enough to play the files using Dice Player. The Tegra 2 is just not fast enough, so a Tegra 3 is necessary. I took the Acer back and got a Toshiba Excite 10 (NOT the LE version, but the newer "Excite 10"). It plays it just fine. It also has a full size SD card slot, so you can just pop the card in and play from it. And if you need to get in contact with the Dice Player app developer, he is very prompt and he even downloaded a file that I provided from my camera to see how it plays. Very good service, so I highly recommend the app.
