This question has been asked in other areas as well as in other forums with either no answer, sketchy answers, or just plan guesses. I figured going straight to the post section and asking the people that deal with this stuff daily would be better.

Question: How can I rewrap DNxHD.MXF files recorded by the Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 into DNxHD.MOV files on a Mac to be used in FCPX or FCP7?

I've heard conflicting reports that the windows version of ffmpeg can do it, what about the Mac? I've also heard Davinci Resolve Lite can read the files and export to quicktime, but it more of a transcode process than a rewrap process. Also my MacBook Pro's video card won't let me run Davinci Resolve.

Any help answering this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

If you locate a Mac conversion/rewrap application, let us all know.

I think there's a trial version of ClipWrap you can download from their site.

I just tried running an .mxf file through ClipWrap and couldn't get it to work. So that may not be an option.

Calibrated makes an MXF importer for $250: http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/MXFImport_Mac.asp

Next time use the Hyperdeck to record uncompressed or ProRes.

Madison, I mimicked your custom preset and attempted to convert some sample DNxHD.MXF files files provided elsewhere at dvxuser.

None worked. The media converter accepted the files, but no conversion occurred. Are you indicating that this preset has worked with sample DNxHD.MXF files, and if so, can you provide a downloadable preset?
