I've used the camera, and there is full manual control in video mode. It just needs to be enabled in the menu and the dial must be set to 'M'. Then you can control shutter speed, aperture, ISO, audio levels, and white balance.

the video says it's not the same sensor as the K5, but a new design - the K5 is just a year old, and they are both APS-C 16mpix, so I wouldn't expect so, but we'll have to wait and see...

While many will no doubt continue to discuss about the supposed pros and cons of the camera ad nauseum without even handling the camera, now that I've tried it, have to say I am more than happy to add this camera to my collection because of the commonality of lenses, batteries and user interface with my K-5.

Actual image from the K-01 - high ISO snapshot (ISO6400 at f/2.8) in a very dark setting handheld.

I have a K-01 (pre-production) with me right now. From the menu, you can set video exposure control to either 'P/Av/M' mode, movie format can be set to FullHD/HD/VGA in 30/25/24fps and Quality Level of ***/**/*. Can also adjust recording sound level (for both internal or external mic), can enable/disable SR, can shoot interval videos, can do AF by either press the shutter button or AF/AE-L button (customizable) ...

The K-01 seems to be a good deal but I am most worried about the lack of an EVF or tiltable screen.
If they had put in either one then I wouldn't be too bad about it.

The K-01 is a much better deal for 1080p30,25,24 720p60 video than the K-5 since it is $749 at B&H vs $1,199.95 with a faster processor and a sensor that is just as good.

I think it might be the same one that is in the Sony NEX-5N and VG-20 that is better for low light at high iso than the one in the NEX-7.

... but much worse than the one on the K5, which has the same low light abilities but much (MUCH) better dynamic range and somewhat better tonal range

Sorry I meant K-01, I edited my post.
The K-01 does not have an EVF or a tilt option for its screen, limiting it to 7D-style ergonomics and requiring an external monitor for anything more than eye level type shots. Thats a big no no for most of the DSLR crowd nowadays especially new adopters.

first bit of info about the codec: it seems to have a relatively low bitrate, around 21 Mbps including audio: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/p...ml#post1818161 - not nice, but it's a pre-production model, maybe the final spec could change this (even so, I doubt it would get to 28 or higher)
