Update : There is full manual control in video mode. It just needs to be enabled in the menu and the dial must be set to 'M'. Then you can control shutter speed, aperture, ISO, audio levels, and white balance !

    720p also has 60fps

It has in body shake reduction that works with any of the 25 million K-mount lenses out there.

looking forward to seeing video from this thing. sensor based IS is great for manual lenses, but didn't seem to offer any video benefit in terms of reduced wobble, etc in previous models like k-x.

wow, that's a very very nice sensor indeed, check out the incredible low light, dynamic range, and tonal range ratings at dxomark: http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Cam...brand3)/Pentax - http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Cam...(brand3)/Canon - let's see if the video is free of the usual aliasing/moire, and if they can avoid screwing up in the details (horrible codec, horrible controls, mandatory auto-anything, mandatory picture styles in video mode that crush most of the DR, etc: any of those, and I don't want it, no matter how good the sensor is) - also, at 45.46mm, focal flange distance is quite long on that pentax K mount: even being a mirrorless camera, Canon lenses definitely won't have infinity focus (without extra glass in adapter), and I don't see any adaptors for nikon lenses on ebay either (there are some for leica lenses, but they are lens mount replacements)

first hiccup: screen is 4:3, 640x480, vs 720x480 on my T2i - when shooting 16:9 video, one is 640x360, the other 720x405 - a minor step backwards, but not a dealbreaker

Mildly interested just because I have literally a bag full of K mount lenses.

    High-quality video recording
The Pentax K-01 features Full HD video-recording function to capture high-quality movie clips in 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). H.264 compression format offers a choice of frame rate (30, 25 or 24 frames per second) to accommodate user-specific applications. Two new features facilitate video recording:
    • a video recording button for instant pushbutton start
    • and a stereo microphone with audio gain control and wind noise suppression for more realistic sound
Video record options are flexible, offering the photographer to select aperture or shutter exposure control, and Pentax Shake Reduction helps stabilize captured video. Users may add personal touches to recorded clips using various Custom Image modes or record subjects in a series of video clips with the Interval Movie Shooting mode. The Pentax K-01 also comes with an HDMI terminal (which allows the user to simultaneously output both Full HD movie clips and stereo sound) as well as an external microphone input terminal.

Full HD 1080p video capture at 30 FPS with h.264 compression (60 FPS at 720p) features shutter speed and aperture exposure control, video autofocus control, and a built-in mono or external stereo microphone.

This line is a bit worrying:

"Video record options are flexible, offering the photographer to select aperture or shutter exposure control"

The "or" suggests that you can shoot video Aperture Priority OR Shutter Priority, but not Manual...

Cautiously optimistic. The dedicated video record button should record video in whatever settings you are shooting to match the screen. The movie setting on the settings dial is likely full auto. No mention of limiting low light settings in video mode. Pentax has no reason to cripple the sensor like sony does.

time lapse built-in. Assuming video quality is comparable to what else is out there, at this price point I could see buying one just to natively use my pentax glass.
