    Hello everyone,

I want to hook up my H4n to a battery with a 5v outlet. Unfortunatly the provided cables donīt fit so I need to find the right adaptor plug.

Does anyone know the exact inner and outer diameter in millimeters of the DC input plug? That would be really helpful as I donīt trust my own measurements (with a ruler).

    Thanks!

Don't know off hand, check the manual, they often say. If not, head over to Home Depot and pick up a basic micrometer caliper. $30 or so and an indispensable tool to have handy.

An even more reliable method would be to go to any Radio Shack shop and use their sample plugs to find the matching size. It would be difficult to accurately measure the diameter of the inside pin with most common calipers.

However, as you will note, JackBayer appears to be in Germany where he is unlikely to have either Radio Shack or Home Depot available.
Recording audio without metering and monitoring is exactly like framing and focusing without looking at the viewfinder.

Yep, noticed he was in Germany after I posted. Still, they have the equivalent hardware stores there, was shopping in one with last time I visted family in Freidberg. And I think I saw a Radio Snak.

I measured mine. Using a caliper: OD=4mm, ID=1.5mm. Hope this helps

    EDIT:
I had sent an email to Zoom with the same question and today I received an answer. It actually is 1,7mm ID and 4mm OD. Just for leaving this thread with correct info.

    Thanks!

Awesome, thanks scottmd80 and the others!

Actually in Munich we donīt really have something like radio shack that Iīd be aware of. We used to, but nowadays they only sell RC stuff and computer hardware in their stores. Online is another story, thatīs why I needed the mmīs. Thanks!
