Blackmagic Design announced today Hyperdeck Shuttle 2. Main feature here is DNxHD 220 10 bit. Unit has 3G HD-SDI in/out. And price is still $345. This answers the concerns of the first unit which recorded only uncompressed. I have not confirmed this but I believe it will record to MXF for direct import into Avid. That's at least how it is handled for the Hyperdeck Studio

It's the same unit (Hyperdeck Shuttle)- just new firmware. If you already have Shuttle just update firmware and you have Shuttle 2 and DNxHD recording.
BM press release is bit confusing

Not exactly. I just went to update our original HyperDeck Shuttle and ran into the following in the manual:
Can My HyperDeck Shuttle Record to a Compressed Format?
The original HyperDeck Shuttle exclusively records in an uncompressed recording format. The HyperDeckShuttle 2 can record to uncompressed and compressed recording formats. To check if you have a HyperDeckShuttle 2, connect the HyperDeck unit via USB and then launch the latest version of the HyperDeck utility. The title bar of the HyperDeck Utility will report either HyperDeck Shuttle 2 or HyperDeck Shuttle. If itreports a HyperDeck Shuttle 2, then the menu options to set the recording format should also be available. These options will remain grayed out and unavailable with the original HyperDeck Shuttle.
Still, we're completely stoked on the new HyperDeck Shuttle 2. I have tested the DNxHD on the HyperDeck Studio and it works great. At $345 this is an awesome price. Don't forget that the Hyperdeck Shuttle is also an HDMI to HD-SDI converter as well as a HD-SDI to HMDI converter - so you get a recorder for free

That's a big improvement. Still no 1/4" mounting hole?

"I'd like to say that I've never come across two know nothing pretenders on the weird wide web before, but unfortunately it's all too common and is exactly why, according to the last government survey, only 5% of all internet users ever use forums or chats. And it's exactly why I'm done with this one. You two really need to get jobs and out of your mother's basements. You can't fix stupid. And I don't have time for stupid." -swoopie
