2 Issues with the ac160 ...

Hey, I just replaced my old dvx100b with a new ac160. wooho!
I encountered 2 "problems" :

1. When I use 5600K preset, the image seems too "warm" , the picture seems more red than I it used to be in the dvx100b 5600k preset.
a friend who also has the cam told me it's a problem with the lcd's colors. and when he checked the colors on his tv, there fine.
what do you say? have you noticed it as well ?

2.Optical image stabilizer problem - I know that when you use the OIS while you shoot from tripod and pan, the image sometimes "jumps" because the OIS tries to "correct" the motion and that's shy you should turn it off when you use a tripod.
BUT - I noticed when I use my ac160 handheld, zoom to something, then pan the cam a bit and stop moving - the image jumps as well (and i'm not using a tripod!)
it doesn't occur when I shoot with the lens wide open and of course it doesn't occur when the ois is disabled .
try it and say if it's just my cam or is it a problem with camera in general.

I just reviewed the AC160 and did not find color balance issues. Camera LCD's just always aren't the best thing to judge.

I tested with OIS and did not notice a jump but that is certainly worth questioning Panasonic.

That's a normal failing of any OIS system (at least, all that I have used). It will try and compensate for what it sees as a change in movement.

second this! anyway, not so sure of the "jump effect", but I would think most of the cams hand held at the tele end would have that problem a little here and a little there...jumping...

I guess you're right. i think it bothered me now becuase i was used to the dvx100 which doesnt go so tele... maybe the more tele you go it's harder to the ois and it fails more ...
another thing that maybe gave me that feeling was the video delay cuased by the ois. if the ois is on, there's a slight delay between the actual event and what the lcd shows.

When I compared my HMC150 with my new 160, both LCDs looked radically different. But when I digitized some test clips from both my cameras into Final Cut they looked perfect and matched very well. Ya just can't trust the LCD displays! On my 160 the LCD has a yellow tone, on my 150 it's more red. Neither of them match the digitized footage.

You can probably correct it in the camera via the menu settings. I wouldn't expect a firmware update for this kind of problem. LCD monitors - all of them except for the very most expensive units - are going to render colors and brightness in some rather imperfect ways.
