V-mounts are great, but the cost of IDX style batteries for each light adds up to a much higher cost than a single DPP-600HD for around $165, which can also be used on set or location to power a number of other things from it's AC outlets, which are not available on a V-mount battery.

David - did you ever get a full test on how long you can power a couple of these 500 light panels for? I seem to recall reading it was something like 3 hours continuous on full brightness but just wanted to check. If this was the case and if turned on/off during takes it could last a full day of powering a couple of lights, especially if used on the lowest brightness settings.

what do those led lights draw. I used one of those power boxes to power a couple of cfl's, 13w and 23w, and had no trouble getting through a day.

The manual says 30W but I think they are more like 50W.
