Has it changed? That brochure's been around for a month or so, no?
Also, Jan... as one of the few people around here who seem to be excited by the HE and PM modes, for the future, is there a way to bias these modes towards lower framerates for a better compression ratio?
I wish PM shot 720p30, and HE 1080p30.... I fake 30p in HE mode all the time by setting the shutter to 1/30; and have tested and found that indeed the algorithm is mart enough to actually deliver better results when I do this (and the look of the footage IS progressive)... but it would be nice not to have to play tricks and have limited exposure options. I think the tradeoff between the frame rate and the compression quality weighs heavily in favor of a lower framerate at these low bit rates; in fact, I'd go so far as to say that any benefit of 60p over30p (or 60i over 30p) is lost due to compression artifacts. So... in the future, if possible... could we have low bitrate modes at 30p? Just because of the more efficient progressive encoding, HE looks a lot better in fake 30p... 720/30p at 8mbps PM should be pretty awexsome!
Cheers,
Barry"I'd like to say that I've never come across two know nothing pretenders on the weird wide web before, but unfortunately it's all too common and is exactly why, according to the last government survey, only 5% of all internet users ever use forums or chats. And it's exactly why I'm done with this one. You two really need to get jobs and out of your mother's basements. You can't fix stupid. And I don't have time for stupid." -swoopie
