GPU capable card and Vegas 11

I plan to upgrade (at least to the extent my pocket book can handle it) from VegasPro 8 to Pro 11, along with upgrading my computer to a faster one with functionality suitable for the demands of version 11.
There has been discussion regarding GPU capablity and the computer I'm considering is the
"HP AMD Phenom II 1045T Six-Core Processor" The "AMD Radeon™ HD 6770 Graphics" suggests it is GPU ready.

Just wondering would you folks interpret this as GPU ready in terms of VegasPro 11?
Any thoughts or advice would be apprecited.

6770 is a midrange GPU. It's difficult to say how v11 will work with it since there's not much info on the new GPU assisted playback feature and requirements.

If it's anything like the mercury playback engine, then you'll have better results using nvidia cards with cuda. As far as I know, all mid-range ati radeons only give software acceleration in MPE. It's also possible, however, that they could require high-end workstation cardss like an nvidia quadro or ati firepro.

I'd say wait for the requirements first, but Nvidia would probably be a better bet right now.

Yeah, waiting for the full release of Pro-11 to see to what extent GPU, CUDA, or whatever is
required to get the best usage of the programe would make sense, although the sale price of
the computer I was looking at was tempting.
After Googling around, I have to say I am really amazed at the complexity and variations
that graphic cards have evolved into; some costing more than the computer it occupies.

Yeah, and AMD have pulled up their pants big time recently - undercutting Nvidia in every corner. I drool over some of those highly priced cards for gaming...
