Does anyone know what's up with the OCONNOR O-BOX WM?
I've been trying to find one for more than 4 months(!) now - since before NAB - and all suppliers I know of have remained out of stock. I've even been on the automated "stock alert" lists and nothing, ever.
Even more frustrating is that - for almost that entire 4 months - some of the suppliers have been promising availabilty "within 1-2 weeks" - but they never arrive.
Has the O-BOX WM been discontinued or something?
If not, does anyone know where I can get one in the next two weeks? I really need a good matte box ASAP - and I'm just about to give up on OCONNOR...![]()

Take a look at the Shoot35 setup. I picked up one in early January and love it. The build quality is second to none and I really like the swing a way feature when it's time to change lenses. I have a photo of the setup in a topic I started back then. Take a look.

The O-box is amazing and it's a brand new item; not discontinued. The mattebox is in high demand that they are on back-order for months since they are virtually hand built and I know they were having supplier issues. We had to wait about 3 months for ours to come and we wer eon the first manufacturing batch. The same goes for Oconnor's new Universal Baseplate. We've had ours on pre-order since NAB and are still waiting for it. Buy a temp mattebox but get your order in for the O-box. When it shows up in a few months, you'll be glad you waited. It'll last you forever whether you're shooting on an AF-100 or RED... it's fantastic.
FYI: I would place your order with Abelcine because you'll also need adiditonal components depending on what kind of lenses you're shooting on. They'll probabaly suggest you add a Chrosziel rubber step down ring as well so it'll flex around different sized lenses and SLR lenses that physically extend when focusing as with most of the Zeiss primes.Last edited by Kindredmachine; 08-02-2011 at 03:39 PM.

I bought two - and waited 2 months for them to arrive. I think if I 'waited' for them to arrive as an in stock item at a retailer I'd still be waiting. It's an incredibly well built matte box with a wide array of accessories, and unlike the "Indy" (read inexpensive from manufacturers with little to no track record) these are the last matte boxes I'll ever buy.
So I guess I'm saying; put your money down on an order for the best matte box you'll ever own.heavyG

It is still very much a current product and yes they are supposed to deliver more soon. We really don't now when as OConnor had some production line issues and had to hold off as they are only ever willing to ship out the finest product. All we can say is soon, really, soon.
