I'm going to do my best to do this one (I couldn't ever think of anything for the last one), but I must admit it's going to be daunting going against the big hitters here.

Well, I finished the main premise, and it's about 2 pages long. But my scriptwriting doesn't follow normal suit. I think once I add the normal things in a script (and format it), it should be getting close to 6 pages.

I have a question about the genre saying just drama. Does that mean it has to be set in the present day? Or are you guys just using "drama" in the broad sense that there is no specific restriction on time period in which each script is set in, because every film technically has drama in it in some form or another? For example: Star Wars could fit in this fest, as it has the theme of fathers and there is definitely an absent father figure in those films (hint hint: Darth Vader). Unless anything non-contemporary set is off the table.

Possibly a silly question, but I figured I'd ask before I write something only to find out it is ineligible.

Or to make things easier, I am debating between the following three ideas for my entry:

1) A contemporary set one about a scientist.
2) A gnostic-themed science fiction/adventure set on another planet in the future.
3) A World War II set script.

All three have the required concept of fathers and absent fathers, and all three have some dramatic conflict in them. Would any of these not be acceptable for the fest due to being outside of the genre of straight drama?

Drama in tone. So, not a slapstick gross out comedy, not a horror film with monsters and tons of blood. I think you can stretch the definition if tonally your piece is a drama. Go for it.
