Plugin for fast cutting between certain clips

Is there any plugin that outputs a timeline in which there is fast cutting between the provided clip?

    I'm thinking something like this:

I select 50 clips, choose parameters like 3 clips per second/random order/2 minutes, and I then get a 2 minute sequence with fast cutting between the 50 clips?

I never heard of anything like that. It doesn't exist. You're going to have to put in the time and make subclips of portions of your long clip

Yeah, I've never heard of anything like that, or anyone wanting to do something like that.

I have hundreds and hundreds of clips from an event I just wanna show off quickly in a few seconds. Almost like a requiem montage, but even faster pace, and there is no special order. In fact, I would prefer a random order. Is there absolutely no way to automate such a thing? It seems like a trivial and useful montage-plugin compared to Warp Stabilizers and what not.

There are plugins that help you create montages and such but what you asking for basically defeats the purpose of editing. I've been in situation you are in multiple times and I wish there was something like that but the hard truth is there isn't. As an editor, you will be at times asked to look at hours upon hours of footage and consolidate that into a short piece. There have been many revolutions in the editing apps that has made organizing your media more simple but you want the computer to essentially tell you how to tell a story. It's not going to happen. Put in the time and analyze your media.

Alright, so there isn't any plugin like that yet.

Then I have a follow-up question. Is there any plugin or way natively in Premiere/FCP or AVID to add multiple in/out markers while you're analyzing a clip, so that when you press "send to timeline" it will add multiple subclips to the timeline?

You can set multiple markers on a clip. In FCP 7, you can set a marker and have it extend until you want it to end or until you create another marker. The markers you create on that clip can be turned into subclips and dragged into the timeline. In PPro, you can set multiple markers to a clip but you would have to in and out points each time to create subclips. Avid I'm not sure yet how to handle creating multiple subclips but I will know soon. Throwing all your media on the timeline at once without knowing what works and what doesn't is not an ideal way to edit. There is too much room for error in that approach and believe me it will be more time wasting than efficient in the long run. I know that's not what you are trying to but you have to look at everything you have. You never know what you may overlook and sometimes what you think works doesn't work at all and you have to go back to square one.

I know. I hate putting a lot of footage on the timeline and then "cut away" stuff. Instead I prefer to "cut out" the good stuff from the clip jungle and put that on the timeline. That's why I brought up multiple in/out markers so that I can go through all the clips roughly and put multiple in/out markers, and then send all the subclips to the timeline.

So if I got you right - in FCP7 you can add multiple in/out markers to a clip, and when you send to the timeline you get multiple subclips sent, while in Premiere you have to mark I/O, send to timeline, then start over again for every subclip of a clip?

Basically. That process hasn't changed in over 20 years. With markers in FCP7, after you drag them from the main clip in the project browser into a bin or free space you can then drag them all at once into the timeline. With PPro it's a more tedious process. What project are you working that has you looking at a lot of clips? I spend at least 2-3 days or more reviewing my footage and making notes before I throw it into the timeline. That way I at least know what I have and if it is enough to tell a story

    Okay. Thanks for the help!

It's nothing fancy. Just a client that want me to edit footage from a 5000 people party event with really fast cutting. "Make it really ADD, a lot of strobe and pictures/impressions for every beat in the audio track."
