Just questioning the logic of this poll. Not saying that FCP X will be the standard. IMHO there is no industry standard among the top NLEs and there won't be one for the next few years. Once upon a time Avid was b/c everybody was aiming for it. It's pretty much an even playing field where each of the top NLE has their own strengths and weaknesses and editors choose one over the others based on their individual needs and workflow.

For a tv-network FCPX will be a good choice once all the network stuff is up and running. The reason there are events and projects separated like they are can only be that you have footage/events in one place and clients editing projects somewhere else (in the house). Besides FCPX is so much faster and with the new keyword-event-paradigm perfect for editorial work.
Avid has always been the standard on top and only few "real films" (i mean 35mm blockbusters) have been made with FCP.
If FCPX will ever be up to the task of a full feature film with the needed audio/xml and whatever I/O? I have no doubt. But they will not break AVID in the topmarket.*****

Not certain what this thread is providing in the way of information.
Why not just use what you feel meets your needs, and leave it at that.David S.

It is just another very general internet forum poll. I find it is far easier to pick up thoughts and new perspectives about a new product through these kinds of things.
What you said is right though, and a good way for others to look at the argument.
FCPX is definitely a few steps back as a 'pro' app, but potentially several steps forward in making a better NLE. Vast majority of editors today are amateurs, or work in non-traditional workflows, and have no need for some of the standards that the 'industry' has implemented. So, apple has potentially made themselves more accessible to the masses with FCPX.
I have always hated the FCP/PP NLE interface. I've been looking for something more progressive. However, making the switch from Old FCP and New Adobe Suites may be hard. Adobe has some awesome software that I would have to purchase even if I went with FCPX, and due to the integration of AE,PS, and PP pro, and the ease of flash catalyst, and so on, I may end up using Premiere Pro more often than FCPX, and that would mean that FCPX would be an expensive add-on to my tool set.
I do not see FCPX competing with FCP7 or Avid in the high end realm for the next 2yrs.

I think "industry standard" is too vague. I would prefer "professional" and would describe that as anyone who primarily uses editing software to make they money that they live off of. If by industry you mean broadcast/film, AVID is and has always been the standard. FCP made some great inroads, but AVID was king.
Ultimately, the "standard" will be whatever editors choose to use in their profession. It could be FCP X in the future, or Premiere, or remain AVID. It's too early to tell really.

Really, it doesn't matter. It's whatever works best for you and your needs. Heck, if you make the best output using Windows Movie Maker, then so be it! A NLE is just a tool in the tool kit.

I've polled a lot of my industry friends and they are all saying they are looking at switching to Premiere.
Even the FCP users who originally came from Avid.
I'd say it's going to end up being an even 3-way split between Avid, FCP and PP.
