Hello everyone,
I shot a talk with the AF100, on 1080/24p settings. When I used Log and Transfer to create ProRes 422 clips, there are several glitches in the resulting clips. It seems the glitches are a result of the transcoding, because when I transcoded the clips twice the glitches showed up in different places in the files. I used the same camera/computer/workflow in a previous project and didn't notice anything like this. Anyone have any ideas? Here are links to 2 short clips where the glitches are visible.

In the first, the glitch appears in the window behind the interviewee. This "matrix" like glitch that recalls the days of tape, only happened a few times in my first ten minutes of interview.
The second example is on the man's face, and it looks like a different kind of thing. Thanks very much for any help.

I believe there was some early issues with MacBook Pro(s).

I'm on a MacBook Pro- if it's an issue with the computer it's strange because I didn't have it on the last film that I used this computer to edit. I have a MacPro as well...on which FCP crashes every time I try to use Log and Transfer. I guess if I can't fix this on my laptop I'll have to try reinstalling, etc on the desktop and see if I have better results there. Anyway, I'm trying it all again on my laptop now. I'm really hoping it's not a problem with the original AVHD files (though it doesn't seem to be based on the fact that the glitches come in different points in the footage.) Thankfully it was a short shoot! Thanks for your help.

What's the speed of your harddrive? If you're importing to the internal drive,
that's likely your problem (as they're usually 5400 RPM drives).
Try a FW800 external drive and create a Scratch and Render folder on the FW drive.
Make sure it's a 7200RPM drive and using FW800. Create a new project .. save it
to your FW drive .. and then do your Log and Transfer.

Thanks jmarkham- this is my laptop info:
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Unfortunately I don't think that's going to help because I already have once tried to use my external drive as a scratch. I will try again, maybe putting the AVHD original files on the external drive as well will help? I just keep getting glitches in all different places- very frustrating.
Thanks

If need be you could use ClipWrap to transcode.

Hi Basia
i experienced the same problem when using my macbook pro with a similar spec.
it seems to happen intermittently but only when using the internal drive as a capture scratch.

I see this consistently on my macbookpro. Doesnt seem to matter what hard drive is used. It does not happen if I use clipwrap.
Log and transfer works fine on my desktop.
