Generally- you should start a new thread whenever you're asking a different question from the original topic. That said- I'd guess X doesn't support that particular patch's codec. You'll want to first convert it to ProRes using something like-

I have been using FCPX for a few months now and have had no problems importing footage from a Canon XA10 recorded onto an SD card. Usually if I hit the import from camera the footage would import with no problems. I am getting the message now that there are "no importable files" whether I try import from camera or import files. The only thing that I can think of is that I updated FXPX to 10.4 ? The camera records in AVCHD (mts files that play fine in VLC player) and the XA10 is listed as a compatible camera in FCP help.

Sorry BenB for my late reply, I am using OSX 10.7.3 but I have been able to solve the problem. The SD card must have been corrupted or have incompatible file structure somehow. The Canon XA10 has two card slots so I copied scenes individually onto a new card and that was able to be read by FCPX with no problems. If I tried copying all the footage at once then it did not work. Possibly the problem stems from the previous user of the camera (it is a university camera) formatted the card on the computer rather than in camera? That is speculation as I don't know the previous user, but I will be careful to format all cards in camera, even if they seem to have been formatted before filming again.
