I just hacked my WE1BA Serial GH1, and I ordered a new 2011 model before the Facebook sale ran out.

got mine up and running... we just but it up against some RED footage.... im in love with shooting RED, but this is really really difficult to discern the difference when viewing in 1080. Still issues of color, res etc... for major theater distro, but music video and independent film... well this thing could be an A cam in those situations.

OK, mine's done! Installed the High Reliability Hack and it's working! Definitely looks better than unhacked, especially when pointed at foliage... much sharper and clearer. Am thinking about trying out of of the more aggressive patches just to see if there's that much difference on quality versus stability. BTW, mine is a newer model purchased a couple of months ago and was originally unhackable.

Could anyone clarify the advantages of GH17 over Gh13? What features have improved by hacking the 2011 models? I'm very curious to know!

No advantage. They are the same cameras. It's just that certain newer cameras were once not hackable but they now are which makes them equivalent to the original GH13s. In other words...this is a new Russian Revolution.
