Hi,
If the cards are gold, they will only have the data writing, refresh and power protection. If silver they will have the ability to have recovery software, card checking, QR code and a 1 year warranty.
Best,
Jan

I'm a little fuzzy on the details you're mentioning here (gold vs. silver) and what the differences are. For me, I just want to buy the best one

Can we get a breakdown of features and model numbers? Like this:
Card #1 incliudes these features:
1, 2, 3....
....and is Model #XXXX
Card #2 includes all the features of Card #1 plus adds these features:
1, 2, 3....
....and is Model #XXXX
ALSO - what's the planned availability of the card reader? Didn't see it on B&H with a recent search.

There are two UHS1 cards from Panasonic. They come in 2 colors, Gold and Silver.
The Gold ones are from the Panasonic Consumer company. These offer the Speed, the Smart Data Writing, and Power Failure Recovery and the Refresh functions that are centered on the Super Intelligent Controller. However they are built for consumers and there is no warranty in a professional application.
The Silver ones have all of the virtues of the Consumer ones but are brought in by the Panasonic Solutions Company. Now add to the feature set that is on the consumer cards plus the following: a down-loadable piece of software that works to repair clips that are on the Silver cards, this does not work with the Gold cards; another piece of software that is a card checker and will give you a status on the well being of your card. This works on the silver cards and not the gold ones. Also there is a one year warranty on the Silver Cards for Professional use. Lastly there is a QR Code on each of the Silver cards that is representative of the serial number on the card. This has the potential of being a part of an archival data base.
Hope that helps,
