Hi folks! Got back the first two test rolls I put through my new (to me) super 16mm K-3, thought I'd share it in all its grainy, flickery, jittery goodness:

    Transferred to 2K Cineform RAW.
Transcoded to Apple ProRes 4444 for cutting/grading - was going for a soft retro look this time around.

    Camera: Krasnogorsk-3, s16mm, PL mount

    Lenses: 35mm, 50mm Lomo 2x anamorphic

Film: Expired Fuji Eterna 250D and Kodak V2 200T

    Processing: Niagara Custom Lab

    Transfer: Frame Discreet

    Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks for watching Rob. I too have a fridge full and missed shooting film, so I sold one of our GH1's and bought this little camera.

Did you get the lens aligned with the new gate? My friend had a S16 K3 awhile back, but never had it aligned so you had to be zoomed in a bit on that stock lens they come with to fill the frame, which was a major drag.

I don't think mine was re-centered when it was converted. But it has a PL mount so I can use lenses made to cover 35mm. I guess I'll be lacking on the wide end, but I don't use many wide lenses anyway.

Ah right, I forgot that a 35mm will more than cover the S16 frame. Keep shooting with that K3! I just sold mine, and will live vicariously through you.

I love it. But you don't really need a super16 gate to shoot full anamorphic, as you have to cut the sides to get the right aspect ratio anyway, just like you would with Hd Video.

Did you have the transfer do the unsqueeze or did you do it yourself.

Thanks for watching! Yeah I don't need the s16 gate for scope (although the 3.56:1 footage is pretty amazing!) but it just makes the camera more versatile since I can shoot 16x9 stuff easily with spherical lenses too.

And I just squeezed it in FCP.
