    Progressive to interlaced?

I'm looking at shooting some marketing material with my d7000 and I don't really want the "film" look. I want more of a video look. Some of the material will be shot on a steadicam and the test footage seems jerky even when I'm moving slowly and smoothly. I'm assuming that's mostly from the 24p frame rate.

If I am going for more of a "video" look, can I convert the footage to interlaced? I think one of the reasons for interlaced footage in the first place was to help eliminate flicker. Has anyone done so in post and are the results successful? Any tips? (I'm using compressor from FCS)

This is for internet video on websites. I may shoot some 720p30 footage and try to interlace it for a test. Any advice is welcomed.

It's the Progressive that makes that, you need interlaced to pan better.

I believe you're right. What I'm curious of is since my D7000 does not offer interlaced, can I convert the progressive footage to interlaced in post? It seems that it should be possible but in my video compression software I only know how to go the other way around (de-interlacing footage). Thanks.

You technically can insert what's called a 3:2 pulldown using a tool like Apple Compressor to convert it from 24P to 60i, but it's still going to give you the film look you don't want. Going from 30P to 60i isn't really going to help you out either. This would be more for if you are going to broadcast.

What you really want (and can't do) is to shoot at 720P 60. That would give you the same speed video is shot at. 30 might work for you, do a quick test.
