Hello, I was wondering if anyone who has been or is going to the show knows if Manfrotto put out a 509HD head.
This was mentioned from Wayne late last fall and it was supposed to be at the show. I like the 504 but would like the 100mm bowl and more weight they claim to be offering in the 509.
Thanks for the info!

I'm assuming this is built for bigger cameras and not DSLR, right? I want to upgrade from my 501HDV, and I think I'm going to get the 504HD unless the 509HD is much better for small cameras.

I just bought a 509HD w/ 536K at B&H today, $1599 + tax. If I was right, it was the price tag for 504HD w/ 536k last year this time.

Looks a little too identical to the 504HD for me to believe it's any good.

No, you will notice they do not include a minimum weight load anywhere in their specs. This is for heavier loads, not lighter.
To date they have never released a DSLR "bridging" head, which would likely be smaller. The 504 does not cut the mustard either.
Both of these heads will rebound with only a simple DSLR and small lens on them. Unless, of course you dial in a ton of friction.
Which kind of defeats the whole purpose doesn't it?

Manfrotto at NAB, is there a 509HD?
