In a way I would like a grip that rotates if it was build well.

Looks good to me... If it was solid/robust!

This design concept does look pretty good, although I'm not sure how the detachable and moving parts would affect the weather sealing. I don't really mind, I just want the D800 to come out as soon as possible! I'm even thinking of buying a D5100 to tide me over.

I'm locked in now with two d7000's. This looks like a great concept. We will have to wait and see.....

For me it's useless. it's an extra cost.

The rotating grip reminds me of my old CoolPix S10. Intriguing design, I don't know if I'd like it in a DSLR though.

I'd have to hold something like this to see how it feels. I don't think Nikon would every make a major change like this anyway

body is too small, the controls are in weird places - I can imagine all sorts of gunk getting caught in-between the rotating grip, as well as the mechanism losing its tolerance overtime. I much rather see a removable/remote grip instead of this.

I had a sony SD video camera with a similar setup. the camera was fine too good quality footage but the rotating grip. Not a great deal of use. I must admit I am a but furstrated that having just shelled out for a D7000 they are only now putting fold out screens on the higher end cameras. Damn annoying indeed.
