I was getting close to buying the Redrock live mount and seeing if I could bolt it to a standard ef-4/3 adapter, so thanks Redrock.

Price will be the deciding factor here. How much could they sell that for?

Some how that looks more expensive than $500.00. Even money says it is north of $1000.00.

And to somebody with a bunch of L glass... a bargain at that.

EDIT: I am not somebody with a bunch of L glass, just sayin'.

Ha ha! Sweet. I suggested this 2-3 months back, and even called them about it, but didn't expect for them to actually release it.

I spent some time with the Birger and it is frickin' sweet. They are not the same thing. The Redrock is more like a fixed/better Kipon. It is a mount that lets you adjust the aperture on your Canon lenses.

The Birger is a device that makes your Canon lenses look and act like native lenses. They communicate with the camera, relay the focus and iris settings, and work with autofocus, autoiris, and OIS. It is a quite different product. It can take accessory controllers and you can customize it via the computer.

So not directly comparable products. The Redrock will specifically address the most gaping hole in the market, and should be able to do so sooner and less expensively.

I'm glad Redrock adapted this unit to provide functionality for the AF-100, but for my money the Birger mount is the way to go with my EOS glass.

Any news on when Birger will release the mount?

I can't see it being much more than their LiveLens:

They can use off the shelf parts for the converter.

I saw this device on some Redrock Micro rig on their site well year before and forget about it. So it took them little longer to dial it.
