I usually try to watch all of them. This one felt like a "breakthrough" film for you. You've done a lot of things on a grander scale, but this one felt more like a film that put story first, in a way you hadn't (IMO) quite accomplished with your earlier efforts. I knew when I watched the fest films that you were going to win this time. Congrats, and I look forward to seeing what you do next fest!

    Shawn,

I was caught up emotionally in your film. For me, only happens when a piece hits me on an unconscious level. Really well done.

Sente Sente felt the most like a feature to me. It just had everything. The location, the color, the on-screen talent. Technical was top-notch.

On Our Terms is the work of a mature filmmaker. Or feels that way, anyway. It isn't big and showy. Dialogue was fantastic.

This festival had fewer entries than some previous outtings, but the caliber of most of the entries was much higher. The bar goes up another notch!

Wow, thanks! I really appreciate that. A book that's been a huge inspiration to me is 'Outliers' and the concept of deliberate practice, so I've been trying to get better at every turn. Onward and upward!

Wow! Thanks Erik, I'm very glad I was able to move you and others. I think that's the hardest to do.

Yep congrats everyone, my top 3 really - surprised Will didn't sneak a little higher - but all the films are deserving and glad to see the votes going for story foremost!
