    Whoa - I didn't see this coming:

    http://www.eoshd.com/content/587-AF1...evealed-at-NAB

No telling if it's true, but if it is...what's that tell us?

    * That the AF100 has faults and Panasonic is correcting them? Remember the HPX300 and 370?

    * That this is a whole new camera, with a bigger sensor, more aimed at the F3?

The website also gave rave reviews to the Sony FS100.

Either way, I wish I was going to NAB this year!

He gives a great review based on very little information, no hands on experience, and zero side-by-side footage comparisons with any of the cameras he puts the FS100 up against. I'd take everything on that site with a grain of salt because he often makes bold claims in order to draw traffic towards his site.

I also expect that if a new Panny is shown in the AF100 line-up, then we'd be looking to 2012 for delivery.

    Could be true. Don't know.

But, the main reason I doubt this is because they're calling it the "AF200." Most successive Panasonic products are simply given a letter extension. A la, DVX100B, or HVX200A.

I could, however, see Panasonic with a mock-up of a camera that's a step up from the AF100. Maybe something more along the lines of a competitor for the Sony F3, but not quite reaching the specs of the Varicams.

Interesting to conjecture on and on about.

some of the rumour sites are ok and pretty well connected.... this site does not seem to be one of them. In fact, if you look at the comments on the FS100 "review" you will see his "trusted source" is just a random poster... and the website owner replies and says it wont happen... a few hours later, this post arrives.

There is not a grain of truth to this rumor. I know what we are going to show and it is not an AF200.

He used AF200 because he doesn't know the real moniker. It's just his pen name for it. Don't take that as gospel.
But after again reviewing his take on the FS100, I see he doesn't actually have hands-on experience. So, the "review" isn't one at all.

I wll meet with a Panasonic rep today at a Panny demo. You can bet I'll grill him on this and the rumored new ENG cams.

So, for now, this is one big rumor, totally unsubstantiated. Still, I thought you AF100 users might be interested.

edit - oops, just saw Jan's rebuttal. Thanks, Jan, I guess we can lock this thread up.

Frankly I like my job and if I told you I would probably not have my job. And I just don't think the forum can support me in my way of life with donations that might come pouring it. ;-)

Sorry. I can only tell you what is not going to be there.

We'll be exploring what will and won't be at NAB extensively in other threads. It should be a great show!
