I'm working on improving my modelling, texturing, surfacing, lighting and rendering skills this year.
Crits and comments are always welcome.

    ...

    Mangina: March 12, 2011.

This is my first successfull creature after a few false starts.
I always liked Rod Thompsons Attack of the Mangina creature from the earlier Monster fest and decided to do one. Rod didn't ask me to, I just loved the idea of it and thought it was hilarious.

So, after several variations I ended up with this.
I'll probably have a few more shots of it later on with different enviroments and lighting.
I know it's not perfect but I learned a lot and hope the next one will be a little better as I learn more.

    Straight compositing,no CC.

March 17. A couple 'fun' grabs.

haha. No likey? Too shiney isn't it. It'll look better in a swamp. But, if it's that, I'm thinking maybe I can do an underground film by introducing Mr.Dick. and Mrs.A-hole and make a little underground porno out of it. Hey, ya never know. lol. It's not that serious folks.

It's pretty good - way better than I could ever do - I'm just wondering if there's some sort of freudian undertone in the design ;-)

No. It's based purely on Rod's concept as mentioned in the first post.

Hey Josh. Yep. I'm having a few problems, not with zbrush at all, but, ya know.

Alright, so, I'll have some updates. Personally I think these pics kind of suck, knowing what I know it can look like.
Long story. I wish people would post that they think it sucks and tell me why. But, I appreciate whatever comments I can get.

@tired: Yeah, haha. I could take Rods concept to another level, as I was joking, and I could certainly embrace the freudian undertone.
In fact, that's still a possibility. Not neccessarily this one, but in the end, I'll probably lean towards going where I get the most attention.

I'll leave it at that. This is just a hobby for me. And I still kind of suck.
But there's more than one market out there, if you know what I mean.

Hey thanks guys for posting. I'll try and have a few more grabs this week that I'm better with and then that's it. Then I'll try another moodel and see if that's a bit better.

    Cool.

    -Gord.

I guess it's almost time to move over to CgSociety. Man, those guys are going to beat me to a pulp, aren't they? I'm afraid to go over there.
Maybe it's time I suck it up and learn something. Jeeez. I guess. The next one I'll post over there. Man, I'm going to get battered. Haha.

Haha. Forget I said that. It was a long day. I was hanging with the boys and drinking a bit and everything sort of came out in frustration. I'm not going anywhere. This is my home man. I've learned everything on my own so far. I don't need to go anywhere. I'll stay here until they kick me out. As for updates..when I get around to it.

In the mean time, why don't some of you people post your stuff and entertain my ass? That doesn't apply to Josh, who is the only one around here that's been posting. And he's been doing pretty good. But nobody sais nothing. That's the web I guess. I don't like it. But who am I to say except my opinion.

Keep up the good work Josh.

Hey, Gord. How's it goin'? Not a lot of 3D'ers here anymore. I still look here every day but not much happening. I like the Mangina design. I think the skin textures look great, if a bit glossy. I think the leg anatomy looks really good too. Have you rigged it?

I haven't really been working on anything except an F-82B, but not making much progress. I'll post what I have later if you're interested. Still really early. Thinking about doing a tutorial from another site to improve my poly modeling. I'm kinda stuck in a nurb rut so I'd like to try something without nurbs to add to my bag-O-tricks.

    Later man, keep posting!

Hey Tower, I miss you man. You were here building cars before me. I miss the old gang. Anhars gone now too. Yeah man, I'd love to see the f82 if you get it to a post. I'm still working on my Spit, believe it or not, It's just a texturing problem right now. It's a huge problem. That and I'm leanring and rendering in Maya now, which is a nightmare.

Yeah, I'll have some better posts of the Mangina soon, when I get to it, it's just so much work, ya know.

Good to here from you man. Post 'er up when you get a chance. There's only a few of us left here. I agree. Ha. Cheers man.
