I hacked my GH1 with Ptool, applying native 24p settings with various bit rates. Everything seemed fine, higher data rates, native 24p recording etc, except my Rode externam videomic ceased to be picked up by the camera. Even after reverting the settings to original and re-updating, I cannot get my camera to pick up the external mic (batteries swapped, tested and working on other devices)...
Is there an explanation as to how the hack could've caused this / how it can be resolved?

did you test to see if it worked when reverted to original firmware? have you eliminated the possibility that the mic is the problem? did you happen to change the audio setting in the patch?

Thanks for the reply....I have tested the mic independently, working.
The audio settings were NOT changed in Ptool.
Since the Rode videomic requires 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter for GH1, I have tested multiple working adapters, and have ruled that out.
Revert to original firmware settings successful, external mic still not recognized....
any other ideas / explanations? thanks!

We had a GH1 input jack fail - they are very fragile. Does LCD screen menu show that there is an extenal mic plugged in even when you don't have one plugged in.

Rigs, thanks for the input. I can't get any on screen display of mic connectivity. I'll have to see if input jack reliabilty is an issue out there, as you described

i also have a rode videomic and i had the same problem with my cheap 3.5 to 2.5mm adapter, the plug is very narrow on gh1, you have to push hard into the plug, the connection is only made in the last quater of milimiter, only then you see the mic symbol on the screen. i failed my first recording like that
