I am creating a television spot for a car dealership. Besides just stock photos of cars, I wanted to include some stock video. The company I used to work for did dealership commercials, but I personally never got to work on one. I noticed they had stock footage of the cars that were on sale that they definitely did not shoot.
Do I have to purchase the stock footage? Or do they have a resource for Chevrolets (for example), where production companies can get stock footage of the cars driving?

I do a lot of car dealerships and usually the dealership can order videos from the manufacturer, stuff like walkarounds, individual car promos, etc. For the past 2 weeks, I have been doing a job for a Nissan and Hyundai dealership and there was no problem getting footage (over 6 hours combined). Ask your client to check with GM (or whoever the maker is) and they should be able to get you some no problem.
