The ghostbusters clip is pretty old and when I first started playing with the hack...I hadn't perfected my settings yet. It also was shot very quickly and might have even been in.. GASP.. auto mode cause I handed the camera to someone else who was not yet trained (who is now my 2nd unit camera guy as well as gaffer). But at the time, he knew nothing about the GH1 so I have no idea what the shutter speed was on that. That clip was really just to show the incredible detail level post hack.

I'm travelling presently .... just catching up with this thread. I'll try and post the footage I referred to earlier as soon as I get back home. In terms of settings, I'm in:
Creative Movie: 24P Cinema
Motion Picture - Rec Quality: 24H
Motion Picture - Film Mode: -2 sharpening
Motion Picture - Exposure Mode: M
Aperture (whatever) and shutter speed (1/50) are set manually via the thumbwheel. This is with an NTSC GH2.Last edited by GrahamH; 02-15-2011 at 08:33 PM.

Cant we determin wether the refresh rate of the monitors in question is the problem, by reading the .mts in (to any software) as a simpathetic frame rate, 30, 25, what ever, if theres no strobing them we can eliminate a shutter speed issue??

Jordan, you're on the right track, and i tend to agree with you,
but the fact is the might be a shutter issue with GH2 that cause more 'strobe',
and Blackout even claims his GH13 footage is a lot smoother.

just outputing a section that has been read in at 30 fps, ill upload a link and see if some anyone notices any more or less strobing. I think its removed it, fingers crossed it has... my monitor refreshes at 60htz.
If it has then the issue is will playback, not shutter speed... dont get to excited i could be wrong.
i think monitors play a big part in this... not a lot of stuff seems to support 24htz. Also whatever the video file, displaying 1920*1080 pixels is a ball ache for alot of computers.

this debate is a paradox :
If it's monitor hz, than EVERYONE would report the same look.
I agree with you that watching 24p on a 60Hz monitor will cause
A bit more strobe, so explain to me how come some people claim
Very strongly that they have footage that plays smooth on probably
The same 60Hz ??????
Someone pleeeeaase solve this!
