Hey guys,
I know these threads never really get a lot of response, or if they do, the response seems to be late and people never wind up organizing anything. Which is why I don't want to organize a meeting, I just want to meet people. <grin>
I recently moved back to Michigan and now that I've got a job again (and will soon have gas money), I want to get out there and get involved in the film community here.
I live in Adrian, which is about 1.5h south-west of Detroit, 1h south-west of Ann Arbor, 1.5h south-east of Lansing, 2.5h south-east of Grand Rapids. (Also 45m north-west of Toledo for any OH filmmakers out there!)
Anyway, I'd love to meet some Michigan filmmakers. I'd be more than willing to drive to the above cities (or meet up somewhere). I've got some short and micro films coming up and I'm looking for people to collaborate with. If you're interested in meeting (or even just talking), shoot me an email at: TravenFilm@gmail.com
Or you could post here, whichever you prefer. <grin>

To add a bit to the original post, my goal isn't to recruit people to help me on the short films I want to make. My goal is to see what you've got, see what I've got, and see what we can do with that. I'm actually more interested in finding out how I can help or contribute to what you're doing than anything else.
(See my post in the Jobs section here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread...04#post2239404)
So, if you're in Michigan (or northern OH/IN), and you might be interested in working with me or even just meeting a fellow filmmaker, shoot me an email.
Thanks,
Michael Traven

Haha, sorry! I actually didn't plan on moving out here for a long time, but I came out to work on a friend's film and just wound up staying.

Nothing to be sorry about, it's great! I'm moving out there next year. How's West LA treating you?

Oh, cool! LA's fun. I'm realizing that I'm not very good at being broke, so there's that... <grin> When you've got a little more than $5, though, it's pretty freaking awesome. Once I get a job and have money for gas, I'm just going to drive up the PCH at midnight sometime.

*necromances thread*
I'm back in Michigan, I've got a night job at McD's working 3rd shift, and I've got bits of spending money here and there. I want to get out there and meet you guys!
On that note: I've bought my ticket for the opening night event of the Cinetopia International Film Festival in Ann Arbor, MI. I'll be at the festival all weekend (Thurs, May 31 - Sun, June 3), and if anyone's going to be at the festival or in the general area during that time, hit me up: TravenFilm@gmail.com
I'm also looking to get out there and work on some productions. I don't have much of my equipment anymore (my T2i is still in LA with my friend), but I've got a sound recorder, a shotgun mic and a boom pole, plus a few 1k quartz lights if any of those will help. If you've got anything going on, want to get anything going on (production-wise, I'm not down with internet hookups), or just want to meet other Metro Detroit-area filmmakers, shoot me an email. Maybe we can grab a coffee sometime.
Looking forward to meeting you guys.
