Went over last night to do some test lighting for the interior apartment shots. My friend Ben sat in for me. I used a color changer that we had from a band I was in to light through the window. Its gets some funky colors so I have decided to use a gelled Lowel 750W.

    Production Log:

1-11-11 - Discovered the "DVXfest" series
1-12-11 - Reached out to Alex Whitmer to modify one of his current short for this contest
1-16-11 - Filled one of two cast members/ Reached out to my FB friends for a vintage record player
1-19-11 - Picked up a old record player from a friend to use as a prop.
1-24-11 - Picked up a 50's typewriter from the thrift store for $4. Hopefully will find a 20's typewriter before we shoot.
1-24-11 - Now that I have a typewriter I took a picture of it and created my movie poster. Still need to cast the ballet dancer but I am getting close
1-26-11 - Went on location to do some interior lighting tests.
1-26-11 - Casted the daughter this afternoon. Very excited now I can start shooting next week
2-03-11 - Met Lu (Daughter) and her parents for coffee. Went well, everyone is excited for Saturdays shoot.
2-04-11 - Spending the day refining my storyboard. I want to make sure we can go smoothly from one shot to the next. Going to watch some past winners for inspiration.

2-05-11 - First shoot day - The day is finally here. The day took forever because I was so excited/anxious/nervous about the first shoot which started at 6:30. I got to the location at 5:30 to setup. Everything went pretty well. Took a little longer than I wanted to get the equipment in the house because of the fresh snow we got. Everyone else arrived at 6:30. The goal was to finish by 10pm and I was close - We finished at 10:30 and everyone left while I cleaned up and headed home by midnight. All in all it was really fun. I am not capturing any audio on the set - If I was it would be a whole different game. I totally understand the whole audio importance and challenge. Of course I could just go home and go to bed - Had to offload some of the footage and check it out. Very pleased - A little disappointed and know what moire is with the Canon 5D. I was even careful with clothing selection and still have issues. Hopefully I can minimize them...

02-07-2011 - Added Stills from Day 1 of shooting
02-09-2001 - Did the Dance studio scenes. Had a two hour window to setup, film and breakdown. Man I was cookin. I was not really happy when I left with what I thought I captured but after looking at the shots at the house I am more than happy.

Thank you. The interior shoot takes place this Saturday. I am nervous because I can picture how it flows in my head and have a idea of the shots I want on paper. Hopefully what I see in my head will translate. Either way, the reason I wanted to do this was to learn and have fun so I will make sure that happens...
