May be some of you know that Aver makes Capture HD products that allow capture HD (up to 1080i). Problem was that only MPEG-2 15Mbit is available for 720p and 1080i modes (and only quite buggy propriatery software can be used).
Right now they rebadged one of the product and called it "DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK" (http://www.avermedia.com/avertv/Prod...il.aspx?Id=523).
And it is whole new story now (only drivers and app changed actually).
It can :
1) Capture uncompressed HD video with 4:2:2.
2) Capture MPEG2 at 40Mbits/s (stiull not very good, but internal compressor allow up to 100Mbits)
3) CPU based realtime H.264 encoder (for owners of fast and 4 or 6 cores CPUs).
This is good prover of feedback as it took company many talks with me and other people to realise potential of hardware and change software accordingly.
As far as I know software can be used on other HD capture Aver solutions.

May be he is also siting an example of ideal company behavior in accepting customer feedback, among other things. Will Panasonic take note?

It is not ideal behaviour.
But it is primer of company feedback.
Capture SDK is not ideal yet.
Plus MPEG2 40Mbits/sec could be set at 100Mbits (plus no 4:2:2 at this option).
But at least it is now pretty useful option fo anyone who want to capture uncompressed HDMI footage.
Especially if you need to switch multiple sources or capture from many boards (as Aver is more friendly in this regard).

What does make this info special toward GH1 and not general?
