What is difference between Canon FD and EF Lens?

I am very newbie for DSLR and Lenses.

    I have few questions...

    1. Why people are not happy with GH1 stock lens.

    2. What kind of other mounts available for GH1 via Adapters.

    3. Majority of people are using Canon FD lenses. When I search on B&H, there are only 5 FD lenses, and they are not even Canon. Only EF lenses from Canon are available. How is this?

I am confused. I cannot find Canon FD Lenses. I find only EF lenses.
    4. What is difference between Canon FD and EF Lens?

One more thing, can someone show the test comparison between Panasonic Stock lens and other mount lens?

    Thanks!

FD lenses from Canon are legacy lenses. They are not manufacturered anymore. They are completely manual and require adapters. Modern Canon lenses will not have full functionality on a GH1 because there is no electronic communication between the body and lens, a feature that is required for full operation of the lens.

    1. Because GH1 stock lens is too slow. f4.0 is not good enough to create cinematic background blur. And it also reduces useability in low light.

    2. Pretty much anything of good quality that I know of.

    3. You can't find FD lenses on B&H Photo because there is no new FD lenses! Pretty much the only place you can get it is from ebay or 2nd-hand stores. If I remember correctly, FD lenses were discontinued around the time I was born. (which is like 20+ years ago).
Simplistically speaking, you cannot mount FD lenses on any Canon EOS camera.

    4. You can google "Canon EF wiki" and "Canon FD wiki"

    1. People are happy with GH1 stock lens.
    2. You name the type of lens and there is a good chance the adapter for it exists.
    3. People shoot with all sorts of lenses not just FDs.
    4. What testdasi said.

None of the functions of the EF lens work on the GH1, no IS or Aperture control on EF lens so you must take a Eos Body in Aperture priority mode, use the Depth of Field button change your aperture to the desire measure, pressing the DoF button and extract the lens (i know, i know) when you get the lens out of the Eos body the lens keep the aperture and so you can put on the GH1 (with the proper adaptor of course), no usefull at all, for that better keep using FD mount, cheap and great lenses, almost a marriage in heaven with the GH1.

Sorry for my bad english, hope this helps.
