If you haven't heard by now, Battleship... yes the board game... will be turned into a movie. It's also involves aliens.

Now when I first heard about the movie I thought 'why?' and then 'how?'
I mean there's nothing to Battleship. It's a game. It's not like they can make a movie from monopoly, or snakes and ladders. So is it to attract fans? Fans of what!? There's no story to the game, it's just a board game! Nothing to be a fan of except sinking your friend's battleship!
Then I wondered how. The main audience for a board game would logically be kids. But to make an adaptation you would have to make a war film about people trying to shoot each other in the water, which isn't very kid friendly.
But now there's aliens...
I'm losing hope in humanity...

You know who they are as a star when they decide to make their film debut in a board game adaptation..."Dialogue should simply be a sound among other sounds, just something that comes out of the mouths of people whose eyes tell the story in visual terms." - Alfred Hitchcock

I can't seem to find an embeddable clip, but game based movies were better when Robot Chicken did it. They proved it could be done for anything.
