Having both products ready by Xmas would be very impressive.

7000 cameras a month sounds a little high for this market, but we tend to get optimistic sometimes. I remember a digital cinema manufacturer mentioning that they had 34 or 36 people working around the clock to assemble cameras for a Xmas release when they had less than 40 preorders and they needed at least 2 more years to finish it.

One thing is for sure. With so many digital cinema products scheduled for Xmas, Santa's little helpers will get some serious compensation for their hard work. The digital cinema market will also have a serious impact on the production of normal toys. Shame on us.

Wrong... if EPIC isn't in the hands of many in 5 months, I'm in deep trouble.

In this age computer aided design and rapid prototyping, changes like Jim announced take days, not weeks, to implement. You can bet if Jim posted it, the changes have already been done. Epic is being manufactured in house in the US. A change in the body design is no more than dumping a new 3d file to the CNC machines. There are any number of companies that can turn out multiple copies of a new circuit board design in a matter of days. Compared to software development and debugging, hardware is the easy part.

I'll have wrapped on a short shot with an AF100 before I could buy an EPIC or Scarlet.

    I agree.

I shoot with what's available, not what some company may or not release at some future time that may move farther down the timeline (or not).

We have been waiting for years and I bet we will wait a few years more. No camera company would announce a product that breaks the rules an is complex to create so early in the process. It just doesn't make sense at all.

I think it's reasonable to expect some manner of Epic this year. Scarlet? MAYBE the 2/3", but I strongly doubt there'll be an S35 Scarlet in 2010. It depends on how the Epic goes. The longer the Epic takes, the far less likely that we'll see any type of Scarlet this year. If the Epic is released in August, then I think the odds of seeing a Scarlet in 2010 look pretty good, but we already know they're focusing entirely on the Epic, and then on the 2/3" Scarlet.
