About the one-sheet, I was going for the old school movie posters that were all painted. I looked up posters from the old spaghetti westerns, and saw things like this. Would love to know your thoughts on it :-)

My dad is a painter. He did it for me, and did a good job.

Film is currently in Utah to be transferred on a Sniper HD unit. It's being scanned in High Definition frame by frame, similar to a Rank Cintel transfer. Hope to get it back soon so that the film will make deadline. And for anyone who wants to know, we shot it at 24 fps, not 18 as is usual on super 8. I'm hoping that with it being Vision2 50D, it will look like 16mm. Let's hope!

Don't shoot on Super8 looking for a 16mm look; shoot 16mm for that. Shoot Super8 for the Super8 look!

With that said ... Vision2 50D is pretty grainless, so even on Super8 it should look rather 16mm-ish. But, it's a huge amount of magnification to go through, to turn 4:3 Super8 into 16:9 HD, so -- expect it to have a lot more grain than modern 16mm; it might be pretty grainy like '80's 16mm. Which may be exactly the look you're looking for? Seems like you're going for the vintage Spaghetti Western feel, yes? If so, it might suit the look.

A Sniper can probably see the full frame; did you shoot Max8 by any chance? That'd make your blowup a little bit less grainy. Max8 (or Super Duper 8) is where you file the gate to be a little wider, giving a native 14:9 aspect ratio, which means a little less magnification to blow it up to 16:9.

Thanks! Well, when I got the camera, I removed the gate to clean behind it. I debated whether it would be worth the trouble to modify the gate. But upon removing the gate, a tiny spring popped out and discouraged me from doing anything anything further... It would have been cool though. My thoughts are the same about 50D looking like older 16mm film. I don't think it would be the traditional Super 8 look, as I'm not shooting reversal film. I'm not crazy about having 3 stops of latitude, haha.

Kyle, you're seriously making me want to spend money to buy a good Beaulieu 6008 Pro again... I had one once upon a time, but like a fool I sold it on ebay. Rats...
