Thank you for that. I actually found that I had teared up halfway through. Especially considering what this weekend is.

Our war vets don't get enough respect, IMO. Please remember, everyone, Memorial Day is not a day of partying and BBQ's. It is a day to remember the men and women who gave their lives so we could enjoy ours.

yeah, this totally blew me away when i stumbled into it last night. The color seems to emphasize just how recent all of it really is.

Doc nailed it when he mentioned partying and bbq's.
A dear friend of mine who was a WWII vet, now deceased, stopped by my desk at work some years ago for a little chit chat. It happened on a Friday afternoon just before Memorial day weekend. He changed the subject just before walking away and said "when you get a chance this weekend say a little prayer for those boys that are still over there" and he pointed to the east side of the office. I know from what he had told me over the years he had been through some bad stuff in Europe. It later finally hit me. They really were just boys. And yeah, there are thousands of them still over there, Europe, Africa and Asia. There are also thousands of them buried over here for that matter going back to the American War for Independence. Point being most all of them were just boys and had their lives cut short in pursuit of the benefits we all enjoy today, i.e. peace and liberty. They were on the giving end and we sit here on the receiving end.

History Channel's running 'WW2 in HD' today. Quite a bit of rare footage. Those who have fallen before us gave everything and should never be forgotten.
