IF it comes out at $6grandish, then it is a very reasonable price. If I remember correctly the original Canon XL-1 was right at $5grand, so is the Sony EX-1R now, for fixed lens and 1/2" sensors.
Now the HD-DSLRs, especially the lower end ones, are terrific bargains and we should see guerrilla films being made with them for a while.

"To me the great hope is... people that normally wouldn't be making movies will make them and suddenly some little fat girl in Ohio will be the new Mozart and will make a beautiful film using her father's camera-corder and the "Professionalism" of movie making will be destroyed forever and it will finally become an art form."

Limited record times with DSLR are something to be aware of.
You can't just hit record and go to sleep. It forces you to pay attention.
But overheat? I have no trouble running my 5D all day without overheating.
And with a simple hand grip - the ergonomics are outstanding. For simple straight DVD or web- my 5D is a dream. And I could get 2 of them for the same cost of this new Panasonic.

That said- I'm curious and look forward to seeing the images this can produce.

I haven't used the 5d so don't know about that, but on the 7d The overheating comes in when it's either an incredible amount of footage shot in a short amount of time, and or its hot. I live in Florida so the latter is something I have to deal with.

And some more pictures, by me this time, of the AG-AF100 MOCK-UP under the glass on the show floor.

Being only a mock-up; I fully expect some of the switches or connectors to move, etc.. Take this pictures as an indication of the general style of the camera, not specific features.
