I have noticed that in 24P, the auto iris appears to underexpose the subject (at least that is my impression). I was using a SoftBank key light and a Reflector for a fill light.
I went to manual iris and bumped the iris one or two stops to where I thought my subject's face was properly exposed. I did not use the Zebra settings to assist me with the exposure because I was unsure how to use them properly.
Is there a "proper" way to correctly expose a subject when I am using the manual iris? Any suggetions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Honestly, when shooting DV, because what you see is what you get, if it looks good, it's exposed properly. Checking out your footage on a monitor is really the best way to judge 8)

There is a setting in the menus that controls auto-iris bias. The presets for cinegamma are set up to have auto-iris compensation deliver 1/2-stop underexposure. You can change that if you want.

Thanks very much Mike and Barry. I did have a monitor attached and used my best judgement, like you suggested.
