I shot some footage last night for an ad for a resruraunt. It was dark, and I gained up too much, so of course I have a lot of noise. I'm hoping I can save the footage. Is there any noise reduction software out there that does the job well?
I have heard of Neat Video for 99.00 http://www.neatvideo.com/
Any others that you know work?

In order to get best results (noise reduction without too much detail erosion) you have to tweak the settings and get a good noise footprint
It's an excellent product , and there is a free demo , so make sure you try before you buy
There are other free options, like avisynth which has dozens of denoising plugins, but it's harder to use if you're not familiar with it already. Virtualdub has some plugins, and there is a decent one from MSU
All decent quality temporal based denoisers are very cpu intensive = slow , but some can take advantage of GPU accerleration = bit faster

PDR, so you take a noise print like in audio software? In audio you take a section of sound with the noise only, then the software removes it. How can you take a print of only noise in video?

Just like audio NR, there are different ranges or frequencies of noise. In video, there are "different size" noise particles , noise in chroma, temporal noise vs. static noise etc... so it's important to distinguish what is noise vs. what is desired detail
You'll see when you use the GUI in neat video ; basically you sample a section with a box (marquee select), and then fine tune it with different parameters. It's important to select a section that is plain with noise e.g. a plain wall; just like it's important to get an accurate footprint in audio NR. You can use "autoselect" and let it guess for you , but it's always better to do manual settings IMO for best results
There are some tutorials on the neat video web site
