I've heard of speculation that various kinks will be worked out for the next models, as well as the possibility of RAW video. At the moment I have purchased only EF and L series lenses (essentially preparing to step up to full frame when the time comes). I've slowly been building up my setup with the assumption that I will only really have to upgrade the body as new technologies come about. I guess what I'm wondering is, do other people have some sort of game plan for keeping up with these quickly changing technologies? And also, has anyone heard of any new Canon models in the works?

edit: just realized I posted in the wrong section....if a moderator could move it that'd be great seeing as i cant delete it

Lenses, you're pretty safe with -- assuming you want to stay in the Canon domain. Canon lenses can't be adapted to Nikon bodies (without a glass element in the adapter) so -- if you're staying Canon (or going 4/3 or u4/3) glass is safe.

Batteries, grips, that kind of stuff -- no, not compatible; the 7D and the T2i use different batteries, for example. But the basics (tripod, lights, that kind of stuff) obviously don't have to change.

Thing is, the market for still cameras is a billion times bigger than for video cameras, so you can pretty much expect that when it's time to upgrade you'll have a relatively easy time selling your old "brain" (body) on ebay when upgrading to the new.
