Hi, I was just curious on if I use a letus35 extreme on a dvx100b
is it possible to make it into 16:9 format and not letterbox or no black bars.
These videos will be posted on youtube and vimeo.
If There isn't anyway, is it possible to put it into 16:9 without quality loss in premiere pro cs3.

shoot in squeeze mode. go into menu >>camera setup >> aspect ratio>> squeeze
Put that in a widescreen timeline in premiere and it will "unsqueeze" it.
    Get results like.

(letus or no letus...it doesnt matter)

I am not positive on Premier's "un squeezing" method but, there is DEFINITELY resolution loss when doing so. It makes more sense and is positively a higher resolution to shoot in full 4:3 then edit in a 4:3 timeline with the forethought that you will be losing the top/bottom of your FINAL image.
When the edit is done- nest your sequence into a 16:9 aspect ratio. This way there is no squeezing/unsqueezing process which FOR SURE creates some jaggies and loss of resolution.
Plus this way actually gives you more latitude to frame your footage.

great video btw jambredz- actually held up well in a720P export!

but look at the flower petals, the roof tops, you'll see the jaggies.

    overall looks nice though

I would suggest you used if possible the excellent anamorphic add on lens that panasonic makes for the dvx's. Just make sure you dial in the correct option when capturing to your editing software! good luck
