Forgive me as I am not entirely sure where to post this but...
Has anyone got anyone experimented or know anyone who may experimented on a home brew digital projection onto film?
Lets forget the 'film look' arguments here and the fact that these methods reduce quality. Infact lets assume Im going for a grindhouse look.
So anyway, in a nutshell - to record on film is expensive, even more so because of the cost of extra film stock needed for mistakes, different takes etc. Then of course you (these days) continue the workflow with the scanning of these reels to end up with a digital form.
The other side of the tracks, film-only indie filmakers have cut corners and some costs buy projecting the film onto a wall and then recording that with a digital camera. Not ideal but lets forget for a second.
So what about the other way around? Setting a tripod secured bolex opposite a large HD TV. How would that look? Sure It wouldn't look exactly like film but would it look as digital?
