If you want to power the DVX without using the batteries, inside the DVX100 manual it specifically tell you to:

    1. Raise the viewfinder
    2. Push the battery-type connectoron the DC cable straight in, and alide it downard until it click into position
    3. Connect the DC cable to the AC adapter
    4. Connect the AC cable to the power outlet
    5. use camcorder

However, if you look at the back there is a connector that looks to be the same kind of connection that allows the DC cable to connect to the AC adapter. The input also says 7.9 volts.

Nowhere on the manual does it explain whether this work, or even how. Does anyone had experience working with this connector?

It's in the manual. That's for charging the internal battery (which supplies the power for memory to keep your settings).

    Um...

If you read the manual carefully, then you'll see that you recharge the battery exactly the same was you operate the camera. Except for leaving the camera's power on the off position.

At least that's what says for the DVX100A manual.
