I just bought a $20 set of the zip gears from indifocus, it came with two zip gears, two rubber sticky pads, a small allen wrench and a marking pencil. I am not using it with an indifocus system so I am wondering what the sticky pads are for?
Anyone with the IFPro system care to help me out?

They protect your lenses from the screws the connect the focus gear to the lens barrel.
