When I look at the me66 at B&H, it says they have it for $209 (e-mail me a better price). But when I look at the accessories, it says that a k6 power module is required. If that's the case, then I would need to spend $206 + $299 = $505 to get this mic. Am I correct in my thinking here? Do I need the k6 pwr module also?
TIA,
Chico

There is a combo deal on B&H that is $565 but when you click on it it goes down to $399.95. That is for the ME66/K6 combo with battery/phantom.

So you do need both units? The me66 and the k6?
Does anyone know if the Audio Technica 897 needs a separate pwr module also? Or when it says $279, is that the total you will pay to get a functional microphone.
If it is, then I will probably go with the $279 AT897 over the $399 me66+k6.
Thanks again,

That is the price for the whole mic as I understand it. That is the beauty of that mic.Great price and great performance. They say it is as good or better that the me66 mic. Let us know what you think. I'vr been looking at that mic also. 8)

Yes, you need the ME66 AND K6... The ME66 is just the mic element/capsule for the K6

Has anyone tried any stereo shotgun mics? I really think that would be better for my purpose, but since I'm looking at about $650 for the AT815ST, I'd like some first hand experience/advise if this a good choice or if something may be better.
Here's a linke at B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...amp;sku=215892
Thanks.

you could use two seperate shotguns one for each channel, and just aim or position them to pick up the L+R *seperately,, ive normally gone that mthod, and it works well. but never done the single unit route.. it seems as though it would be nice, and easy to get about the same results though.

I've read many articles on the AT815ST and the AT835ST and they're all very favorable, but I would be more comfortable it someone who actually used either of them were available for comment, so to speak.
I suppose I will be buying the shorter one if I don't hear something contrary in the next couple of weeks.

I was yesterday at bhphoto asking for the at-897 mic vs the me66, the guy told me that the at-897 doesnt even come near the quality and sensivity of the me66...
dont know what to think.. was he trying to sell the more expensive one or was he telling the truth, what do you guys think? anyone tested it yet?
